I've seen this happen though where parents are really controlling and I've even known where daughters and mothers have had a struggle or a conflict because of a lack of communication and mistrust. They take away privileges and that's not always the solution to the problem. Although sometimes parents think that that is the only thing that they can do to have some control it actually makes the teenager rebel.
